CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa

UFG Insurance is pleased to announce a new reinsurance intermediary management agreement with Waypoint Underwriting Management LLC. As part of the new agreement, Waypoint will underwrite and manage accident and health reinsurance on behalf of United Fire & Casualty Company. 

This is an expansion of UFG’s current partnership with Waypoint, in which Waypoint underwrites workers compensation reinsurance on its behalf in a previously announced agreement. 

“UFG is once again pleased to be able to partner with Waypoint on this new reinsurance agreement, taking advantage of an exciting opportunity to further diversify our portfolio,” said UFG Vice President and Chief Risk Officer Micah Woolstenhulme, who leads the company’s assumed reinsurance unit. “This new agreement is a reflection of our strong and trusted partnership with Waypoint — one that we look forward to successfully growing in the future.”

Based in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, Waypoint is a specialty reinsurance managing general underwriter operating primarily in the United States, offering P&C and A&H solutions to insurers.

“Waypoint has enjoyed our partnership with UFG and is excited to write medical and accident reinsurance on their behalf,” said Waypoint Managing Partner Jason Denechaud. “We will be bringing on an underwriting and actuarial team with deep expertise on the medical side to complement our existing bench strength on special risk and accident business.” 

Waypoint Managing Partner Joseph Horan also added, “We have always held the belief that if you treat your capacity partners well and do what you say you are going to do, these groups will look for ways to grow with Waypoint. The product expansion with UFG is a perfect example of this and we could not be more pleased to grow with such an important trading partner.”
