History

More than historical milestones

Responsive service is built into the legacy of UFG — a legacy that began on January 2, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, when businessman Scott McIntrye Sr. began writing auto and liability lines at his newly formed United Casualty Company.

As years rolled by, stories unfolded of small insurance companies merging and working together, of expanding into new territories and acquiring more business and — through it all — doing business the right way and treating people the right way. Because that’s the way we do things at UFG, then and now.
