CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – November 7, 2024

UFG Insurance has announced Casey Prince as the recipient of the 2024 Scotty McIntyre, Jr. Go Beyond award, recognizing UFG employees for their exemplary community service efforts.

Casey, AVP and marketing communications manager in Cedar Rapids, has spent two decades volunteering his time and talent to a variety of organizations — primarily in the arts, education and community development areas. The organization that has been impacted most recently by Casey’s contributions is the Patrons for the Performing Arts (PPA), which supports the fine arts program at Washington High School.

In 2024, the PPA supplemented the fine arts budgetary needs and executed several special projects. Casey chairs the PPA’s special projects initiatives and hall of fame. He also helped build a fundraising effort called “In the Spotlight” to replace theatrical lights, which was a nearly $25,000 effort. He single-handedly led the effort to gain more $32,000 of earmarked funds to kick off a second phase of this project as well.

“He’s literally shining a light on students in high school performing arts via the PPA fundraising he’s executing,” says Matt Evans, who nominated Casey for this award. “This aligns with Scotty’s belief that, at the end of the day, what we’re talking about is people.”

The Go Beyond award recognizes its recipient and honors the legacy of Scotty McIntyre, Jr., former CEO, chairman and son of UFG founder Scott McIntyre. Scotty cultivated a culture dedicated to giving back and community support.

“Casey deserves this award for his unwavering commitment supporting Washington High School’s arts program and for giving young people access to the arts,” says UFG Chief Marketing Officer Michael Sheeley. “We are incredibly proud of his contributions and of the lasting impact he has made on our Cedar Rapids community.”

In addition to a trophy, Casey had the opportunity to select a nonprofit to receive $5,000 from UFG in honor of his volunteerism. He has chosen the Patrons of the Performing Arts. UFG is proud to honor him with this philanthropic gift.
