CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – November 6, 2023

UFG Insurance has announced Max Gruenig as recipient of the 2023 Scotty McIntyre, Jr. Go Beyond award, recognizing UFG agent partners for their exemplary community service efforts.

Max is an agency sales team leader with AssuredPartners in Metairie, Louisiana. He was nominated for the award by a colleague for his extensive community service work. Examples of his volunteerism include providing enrichment opportunities for local children as a board member of the Lakeview Boosters Club, helping motivate disadvantaged youth to become successful in college and beyond with Boys Hope Girls Hope and serving food to local families after Hurricane Ida devastated Southern Louisiana. 

As a volunteer, Max works tirelessly to help those in need – bringing a high energy, a positive attitude and dedication to diversity and inclusion. 

“Max is one of those people who you never forget once you meet him,” says Karen Scioneaux, who nominated Max for the award. “His personality is gregarious, and his love of people shines through.” 

The Go Beyond award recognizes its recipient and honors the legacy of Scotty McIntyre, Jr., former CEO, chairman and son of UFG founder Scott McIntyre. Scotty passionately believed in giving back and this award reflects UFG’s promise of community support.

“We continue to be in awe of our agency partners who are living the UFG promise of support to communities,” says UFG Community Relations Coordinator and Go Beyond committee member Katie Jensen. “Max truly embodies the spirit of this award and we’re so grateful for his partnership with UFG.”

In addition to a trophy, Max had the opportunity to select a nonprofit to receive $5,000 from UFG in honor of his volunteerism. He has chosen the Lakeview Boosters Club and UFG is proud to honor him with this philanthropic gift.
