CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – November 16, 2020

UFG Insurance has announced the 2020 winners of its annual Scotty McIntyre, Jr., Go Beyond Award. Each year, the property and casualty insurance carrier welcomes nominations from its employees and agency partners that highlight the outstanding community service efforts of colleagues. This year’s honorees are Ray “Andy” Buck, UFG claims supervisor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Phil Collins, commercial lines account executive at Mitchell, South Dakota, partner agency Fischer, Rounds & Associates.

Buck has participated in 12 mission trips with HERO Makers, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children. Collins does inspirational work with the Special Olympics and several other organizations, advocating to build paths to success for all.

“Both Andy and Phil truly go above and beyond to make a difference,” explains UFG President and CEO Randy Ramlo. “Their efforts demonstrate the importance of volunteerism and philanthropy that Scotty McIntyre, Jr., instilled at the heart of UFG’s corporate principles.”

Scotty McIntyre, Jr., former UFG president and son of the company’s founder, viewed insurance as a people business, choosing to go beyond numbers to seek the human side of every interaction.

The Go Beyond honor pays tribute to McIntyre while uplifting UFG’s corporate mission of support to communities — UFG will award a $5,000 gift to a nonprofit of each honoree’s choosing.

Collins has selected Special Olympics of South Dakota to receive $5,000 from UFG in honor of his work. Buck has chosen HERO Makers as the recipient of the $5,000 gift in his honor.
