Quality Assurance Analyst II

The QA Analyst will assist the quality assurance team in ensuring that software quality is maintained throughout the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Assure the software meets the specifications provided. Testing the software to ensure all requirements are thoroughly tested and that current functionality is not compromised. Minimize the chance of software being implemented with unknown bugs.


  • Test multiple projects including medium to large, complex size Software Releases as required by UFG ProMOTE process to ensure that all requirements are tested, and current systems functionality remains operable and data integrity is maintained.
    • Review SOW or SRS attached to the project. Define test plan and create testing matrix as needed.
    • Able to identify appropriate testing methods and tools necessary to support projects.
    • Build test cases as described by the test plans within test case management tool, QAComplete.
    • Execute test plans.
    • Document results within QAComplete.
    • Describe bugs or missed functionality so the software developers can provide fixes.
    • Provide documentation to Users so that UAT approval can be obtained.
  • Interact with vendors to ensure Software Releases meet all requirements
  • Actively participate in status meetings.
  • Provide feedback on the status of projects by monitoring individual and QA team progress.
  • Help set project goals, dates and deadlines
  • Sets priorities for individual QA tasks within a project based on business importance and urgency of assignments.
  • Prepare training documentation
  • Assist the users in training all other users prior to the changes being promoted to production. Training will be part of large or high risk projects.
  • Aid system users.
  • Provide insights on application under test and it’s impacts or dependencies on integrated systems and/or applications.
  • Keep Project Manager and QA Manager informed of issues as they arise that may impact the implementation dates or performance of the final project.
  • Keep current in new technologies



  • College degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Certified or working towards a Software Testing certification preferred.
  • Insurance coursework or designations in the following areas are desirable: General Insurance, Associate in Personal Insurance, Associate in Commercial Underwriting, Associate in Automation Information Technology, Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter.
  • Employees are expected to participate in insurance classes and or in-house training programs throughout their careers


  • 3+ years of experience in any of the following: IT Quality Assurance, P&C Insurance, Software Testing and Test Plan Development
  • Insurance experience preferred.
  • Experience in resolving production issues and providing post implementation support preferred.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Ability to work well with business leaders, project team members, vendors, business analysts and software developers.
  • Expanded knowledge of policy rating and insurance operations with the ability to read Underwriting manuals and bulletins
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with the software development process in both waterfall and agile development environments
  • Strong understanding of software test methodologies/procedures
  • Ability to convert requirements into test plans and document results
  • Good interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with people from many disciplines and with varying degrees of business and technical experience
  • Adaptability and flexibility including ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines
  • Ability to learn the technical background sufficient to understand the issues involved with our automation projects
  • Basic skills in MS Office, especially Word and Excel
