Application Support Administrator

An experienced Application Support Administrator will be engaged in challenging, and innovative initiatives that will impact our organizations success. This role will work collaboratively with software developers and the business to support operate our core systems, help  streamline our operations and process and build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations, troubleshoot and resolve issues in our development, test, QA, and production environments.

  • Troubleshoot finding the root cause of an application malfunction by working with System Administrators and Developers.
  • Help identify automation candidates in the build and configuration software and hardware, application deployments and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Plan, execute, document and implement application and configuration change procedures to ensure optimal quality assurance for all applications.
  • Work with Development teams and solutions architects to determine the infrastructure needs for applications.
  • Actively working with other teams to ensure a smooth CI/CD of the various services of the software platform
  • Develop, sustain and evaluation delegated business process and related applications.
  • Work with developers to setup application monitoring for supported applications and help a proper alerting environment to proactively discover application performance impacts.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend new and innovative technologies, software and hardware enhancements.
  • Provide support per help desk request by investigation and troubleshooting issues and keep personnel updated on problem resolution status.
  • Provides technical assistance to development teams where necessary.
  • Maintain up to date and relevant documentation in support of the different platforms/programs.



  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred 


  • 5+ years of work experience with development and deployment tools preferred
  • Experience with PowerShell is required

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Understanding of an Application Performance Monitoring tool like AppDynamics
  • Understanding of Microsoft Windows Server, IIS, Apache, SQL, and Java
  • Understanding of networking, load balancing, and network/application security principles
  • Strong problem solving / analytical skills
  • Strong problem solving / analytical skills
  • Understanding of system and networking concepts and troubleshooting techniques
  • Be familiar with orchestration tools like TeamCity and Octopus
  • Knowledge of the software development processes and methodologies
  • Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within IT operations.
  • Ability to solve problems, see relationships and visualize information flows with the United Fire Group organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
