Quality Assurance & Onboarding Specialist - Premium Audit

The Quality Assurance & Onboarding Specialist will identify and develop and/or assist in the development, facilitation, and evaluation of learning experiences and documentation to build knowledge, skills, and abilities of UFG Premium Audit employees.  They will assist management to identify, document & implement consistent processes, procedures and workflows in accordance with ISO & NCCI standards to deliver an exceptional customer experience, support the underwriting function, improve compliance with regulatory statutes and maximize efficiency. In addition they will manage an audit territory by traveling to policy holders’ business to conduct annual premium audits and risk assessment.  Submit data for billing and communicate information to underwriting.


Quality Assurance

  • Support corporate strategic vision of people, service, profit, growth in all aspects of the job, including interacting with employees, policyholders, and others.
  • Identify functional learning needs for the Premium Audit Department using a variety of methods. Examples include, but not limited to, working an audit territory, file reviews, surveys, job shadowing, reports, etc. 
  • Conduct file reviews to evaluate the successful implementation of technical topics, processes, procedures, workflows and documentation.
  • Prepare communications for managers to share individual successes as well as additional training opportunities.
  • Coordinate, assign, or deliver specific learning experiences to audit staff in the means deemed necessary. Examples include, but not limited to, electronic meetings, physical visits, classroom training, one-on-one meetings. 

Onboarding Specialist

  • Develop and maintain a Premium Audit Onboarding program for new hires in collaboration with the UFG Training Department.
  • Establish a training protocol with defined timelines for effectively training a new associate to the Premium Audit department.

Physical Auditor

  • Conduct physical audits at insureds’ businesses consisting of a systematic review of the insured’s accounting records to determine exposures by classification to develop chargeable premium on Policies.
  • Perform a risk assessment of insured’s business as assigned.
  • Document risk exposures as observed in approved format.                                                           



  • Four-year college degree highly preferred


  • 4+ years of experience in the insurance industry
  • 3+ years’ experience in training the Premium Audit function is desired

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Ability to travel to service an audit territory, department meetings at designated locations, audit and industry association training conferences and meetings
  • In-depth, working knowledge of NCCI and ISO guidelines
  • Computer and business application software skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, etc.
  • Communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to breakdown the learning process to effectively train Premium Audit
  • Desire to continue to enhance the Premium Audit function through collaboration with corporate partners
