Overview:

OPPORTUNITY SNAPSHOT:

We are searching for an energetic and experienced commercial multi-line field adjuster located in the Southern Central California area (ideally in Bakersfield) who is an expert at analyzing and investigating a variety of interesting cases. In this stimulating role, you will be able to show off your superior coverage analysis skills and command of commercial insurance policies. The right claims representative will be passionate about sharing their expertise and collaborating with co-workers to achieve strong results for the overall success of the team. An important component will also be your partnership with both internal and external legal counsel as necessary. You may also be called upon to represent the Company at off-site mediation, arbitrations and trials. This is a remote position, so you’ll be working from your own home office and travel as needed which we predict to be 50-60% of the time to locations within a 3 hour drive one-way (including traffic). You will be given the option of participating in the Company’s Lease Vehicle program which includes gas and maintenance expenses. Depending on your qualifications, this position may be filled at a senior claims representative level. 

Responsibilities:
  • Review assignments and accurately determine severity, coverage and appropriate action 
  • Review and expertly interpret policy coverage to determine whether the claim is payable under the policy, deductible, actual cash value or replacement cost
  • Conduct field investigations to include site inspection, diagram, photographs, interview and secure recorded statements of those possessing facts concerning the loss
  • Prepare well thought-out written investigative reports for the claim file to document all activity related to the loss - including estimating programs
  • Effectively negotiate with contractors or repair facilities regarding extent of damage and method of repair
  • Keep knowledge current on case laws and construction prices/methods/procedures
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with independent agency force
  • Participate in other projects or other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Experience:

Must:

  • Be an expert at interpreting contracts to determine coverage
  • Have the skill set to successfully evaluate, analyze and negotiate claims based on liability, coverage and damages
  • Possess proficient working knowledge of applicable laws, policy coverage and damage evaluation procedures
  • Understand the elements of contractual law
  • Understanding of litigation and assist in the process
  • Have, or willingness to work towards AIC, SCLA or Legal Principal’s, CCLA, PCLA, CPCU and/or any other insurance courses and designations that may apply

 

Preferred to have:

    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in adjusting commercial insurance multi-line claims
    • A four year college degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
