The Risk Management Specialist will focus on developing and monitoring the framework for an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) approach to evaluate risk within Claims organization. This will include identifying, evaluating, and managing risk. This position will build relationships and collaborate with internal and external business partners to promote and support a culture of proactive risk management and regulatory compliance.       

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for continually analyzing and managing risk for the Claims organization by developing an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) approach and framework.
  • Collaborate with multiple business areas to analyze claims processes and controls, identify and assess risk management and compliance opportunities, and develop solutions.
  • Present analysis of risk assessment and solutions to various levels of leadership.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multiple work streams on the implementation of creative solutions.
  • Responsible for the development of tools and metrics that monitor, analyze, and manage risk in support of regional claim operations.
  • Collaborate with regional claims leaders to develop and perform a testing method designed to provide an independent and objective measurement of adherence to internal, regulatory, and statutory compliance within claim files.
  • Oversee the claims manual and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Continually research and oversee claims-related regulatory requirements and processes including, but not limited to, the complaint process, Medicare reporting, OFAC, and other regulatory reporting requirements
  • Administer and oversee adjuster licensing compliance for the Claims organization.
  • Partner with Corporate Compliance and serve as the subject matter expert for the Claims organization. Includes participation of regulatory examinations and facilitates the development and execution of company action plans for the Claims organization.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Underwriting, and Marketing to evaluate risk related to new or current products, develop solutions for risk prevention, and create new ways to exchange information among the business areas.
  • All other duties as assigned, relevant to the position

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Four year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Active participation in insurance industry education programs

Experience:

  • 10+ years of related experience with a property and casualty insurance company
  • Applicable risk and compliance designations preferred (i.e. ARM)
  • Experience working with Departments of Insurance and other regulatory bodies preferred.
  • Experience with analyzing state and local laws to instrument solutions to operationalize compliance.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other business related software.
