Working closely with the Benefits Manager, the Benefits Specialist will assist with administration of maintaining company’s benefit programs,  performing all functions of benefit administration for all employees and retirees.  They will also inform and guide employees on benefit matters regarding eligibility, coverage and benefit provisions.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Provide customer service and support to employees and retirees on wide variety of benefit related questions
  • Manage technology based benefits systems
  • Administer leave management program; manage other projects as assigned.
  • Manually or electronically enter benefit information; provide responses to requestors
  • Distribution of Compliance and Regulatory Notices to employees and retirees
  • Maintain personnel files (electronic & paper), prep and image documents related to benefit programs
  • Manage and update accurate benefits information on ufg360
  • Plan and Organize Annual Open Enrollment activities including but not limited to annual meetings, benefits education and communication, system updates, employee enrollment
  • Assist with benefit audits, filings, reporting, educational sessions
  • Perform administrative tasks including vendor invoicing (tracking) and premium calculations etc.
  • Provide assistance in other areas of HR (payroll, recruitment) as well as miscellaneous duties

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR is a plus.

Experience:

  • Prior benefits experience including:
    • Disability, FMLA, ADA and general LOA administration
    • ACA reporting and requirements
    • HRIS benefit administration & file feed integrations
    • HDHPs & HSAs
    • Qualifying life events
  • Experience with a HRIS and Benefits software a plus.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Ability to administer and maintain technology based benefit systems.
  • Ability to be confidential and maintain privacy.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, document, and communicate status of projects and tasks.
  • Knowledge of Compliance and other regulations (COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, DOL).
  • Knowledge of benefit programs including Pension, 401(k), Health, Dental, Vision, Voluntary Benefits, retiree medical.
  • Strong knowledge of company policies, procedures, and benefit plans.
  • Attention to detail; accuracy and strong record keeping skills.
