Human Resources Generalist

UFG is seeking a human resources generalist to support a wide variety of human resources activities.  The Human Resources Generalist will develop, deliver and support a variety of human resources initiatives and responsibilities in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and event management.

  • Partner with the human resources manager and human resources team to support, develop and execute a variety of human resources initiatives and responsibilities.
  • Assist Talent Acquisition with full-cycle recruitment and staffing activities.
  • Manage the employee onboarding function and deliver monthly new hire orientation ensuring all requirements are completed within specific deadlines. Monitor employee feedback from onboarding activities and develops plans to revise and improve the program.
  • Facilitate the employee off-boarding process and activities. Performs exit interviews to collect data and identify trends and assesses opportunities for improvement such as training, team building, or changes to benefit plans and compensation practices.
  • Evaluates and responds to unemployment claims and represents UFG at unemployment hearings when contesting such claims is warranted.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, development and implementation of the employee handbook and other personnel policies and procedures ensuring compliance with local, state and federal laws/regulations.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of human resources guides, resources or tools on employee intranet.
  • Assist with the mediation employee relations issues. Advises supervisors and managers on the progressive discipline process and performance improvement objectives.
  • Coordinates and plans onsite activities and special events such as holiday celebrations, employee recognition and retiree functions.
  • Manages the summer internship program including the recruitment, schedule and program/activity development.
  • Provide interpretive guidance to employees, supervisors and managers on human resources policies, programs and employment laws and regulations.
  • Recommends new approaches, programs, procedures to continually increase efficiency and effectives of the human resources department.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in human resources, business or related discipline.
  • Professional in human resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP certifications preferred.


  • 3+ years of human resources experience in a Generalist or HR Business Partner capacity

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of human capital management systems – UltiPro is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, the desire to be proactive and suggest ideas for new process, programs for continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to analyze problems and solve them creatively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skill are key. The ability to build trust, maximize relationships, and interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to handle and maintain a high level of confidentiality and common sense regarding sensitive employee information is essential.
  • Ability to research, develop and create new human resources programs.
  • The ability to provide information/direction, effectively express ideas, advice and solutions both verbally and in writing is required.
  • Requires strong data gathering and analysis skills, utilizing reports, spreadsheets, web-based applications, and other software tools.
  • Ability to develop, deliver and manage human resources programs.
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule that provides needed coverage for customer service levels and/or time-sensitive projects.
