As a key member of the integrated creative team, the senior copywriter develops content for multiple communications platforms, including web, print, video and social media. The senior copywriter works in close collaboration with designers and the marketing communications manager to produce copy and materials that support the corporate brand, drive sales and inform employees. The position provides counsel to in-house clients regarding marketing and communications strategies for internal and external communications and promotional campaigns. Excellent grammar and proofreading skills are integral to the daily tasks.

Responsibilities:
  • Working in collaboration with the creative team, bring to the table strong concepts and ideas for varied communications channels.
  • Provide leadership for the written component in download meetings where concepts are generated.
  • Work with the marketing communications manager to build a business rationale for the ideas.
  • Create promotional and informational materials primarily for external audiences (agents, policyholders, public, shareholders), but also for the internal employee audience.
  • Once concepts are fully developed and materials are written, provide the ability to present ideas in a group setting.
  • Provide assistance with corporate communications tasks that may not be within the writing realm. These may include preparing materials for a large event or conducting a group activity.
  • Build positive business relationships with in-house clients, employees, vendors and other business partners. Answer correspondences promptly.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English or Journalism is required.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of related experience is required.
  • Social media content development experience.
  • Video Script writing experience.
  • Media relations experience preferred.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Ability to develop creative concepts that are effective and creative.
  • Writing for web skillset.
  • Insurance compliance knowledge preferred as it relates to written materials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work well with people from many disciplines with varying degrees of business and technical experience.
  • Strong business acumen; understand and deal with business situations in a manner that leads to a positive outcome.
  • Energetic, positive personality. Works well in a team setting.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work within deadlines.
